Bernard Toney

Toney, William Bernard Toney, age 97, of Gull Lake, Sk. passed away November 8, 2017 at the Gull Lake Special Care Centre. The Memorial Service was held on Monday, November 20 at 2:00 pm from the Chapel of Warren's Funeral Home with Carola Anderson officiating. The organist was Millie Spagrud and a Life Tribute was presented by Kathryn Bohnet. The Interment Service took place at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Bernard is survived by son Rick; grandchildren Rob, Leighann, Kathryn, Chuck and Paul; great grandchildren Dilyn, Merik, Jestin, Calista, Lexie, Mathew, Lucus, Levin, Emitt, Lowel and Cycil; daughter-in-law Wendy; brother Dayton (Hazel), Ted (Shirley); sister Coralea (Bob); sister-in-law Dolly and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Elthel; wife Marjorie; son Bill, brothers Charles and Robert. Bernard was born on March 24, 1920 in Gull Lake. He attended White Craig School and also Hazlet, Gull Lake and the University of Saskatchewan. He married Marjorie Taylor on November 13, 1945 in Gull Lake. They farmed together on a Mixed Farm for many years. Bernard also served on the RM of Gull Lake as councilor of Division 4 for 26 years. He served on the hospital board and the special care center when they were built, and was president of the Valley Centre Telephone Company. Bernard was also a past master of the Masonic Lodge, something he was very proud of. Bernard trueing enjoyed farming, work working, curling and especially his family. Visiting and farming with them where always a highlight of his day. Bernard will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by his family and friends.
