Winifred Dickie

Winifred Dickie, age 98, of Swift Current, passed away October 5, 2018 at The Meadows. The memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday October 13, 2018 from the Chapel at Warren's Funeral Home with Reverend Annette Taylor officiating. The interment service was held in the Veteran's Section of Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Winnie is survived by her daughters, Dorothy (Jim) Miller and Sheila (Rod) Oman; grandchildren, Jay Miller, Kim (Amanda) Miller, Jamie Oman, Chelsey Oman and Alysse Oman; 3 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Sheila Hamel; and several nieces and nephews. Winnie was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Jane Anne Stanger; her husband, Lloyd Dickie; son, Douglas Dickie; 2 infant daughters; grandson, Kal Miller; sister, Margaret Stephen; and by several brothers-in-law, 2 nieces and 2 nephews. Winnie was born in Dyce, Aberdeen, Scotland in 1920. She attended school at Waldren, Saskatchewan. She married Lloyd Dickie on June 23, 1945 in Scotland. Winnie worked at the Hotel in Sceptre, a motel in Swift Current, and at the Swift Current Hospital for 11 years. Winnie belonged to the Order of Royal Purple, the Women's Institute, and was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion. In her spare time, Winnie loved to sew, knit and play cards. Winnie also loved to play Bingo. She enjoyed socializing with her friends and family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Winnie's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 1738 Quebec Avenue, Unit 26, Saskatoon SK S7K 1V9.
