Harold Ring

Harold Emmanuel Ring age 90 years of Swift Current, formerly of the Rush Lake District passed away on Monday, December 18, 2017 at the Gull Lake Special Care Home. The funeral service was held at 2:00 pm, December 23, 2017 from Church of the Open Bible with Pastor Rob Cochrane officiating. The organist was Wendy Cochrane.Eulogist was Hugh Hauser. Ushers were Stan Klassen & Robert Klassen.The interment service was held at Hillcrest Cemetery.The pallbearers were nephews, Hugh Hauser, Jim Ring, Vincent Ring, Rick Seib, Jerry Springer and Jesse Wilcox.
Harold was born February 26, 1927 to Wilhelm and Lydia (Heiser) Ring on the family farm where he spent the next 78 years. He attended school at Swan Lake, church at Peace Lutheran Church and later Church of the Open Bible.
He married Doris Harder of the Beaver Flat District on June 6, 1953. Together they raised cattle, sheep, pigs and chickens,as well as, wheat, oats and hay. 
To supplement the farm income he was lineman for the rural telephone company.  He also served as councilor for Division 2 for the RM of Excelsior for 12 years.
They managed to take several holidays including bus tours to Alaska and the Maritimes, car trips to Colorado, California and Vancouver Island.
In 2005, they sold the farm and moved to Swift Current. He enjoyed his yard and big garden which included raspberries and strawberries.
His main hobby was fishing. He was a handyman and could fix most anything and create many useful items out of wood.
Harold is survived by his wife Doris of 64 years, son Duane (Anne) Ring, grandson Shaun (Amber) Ring and great-granddaughter Eden Ring , granddaughter Tawnya (Ryan) Thares and great-grandsons Bentley and Nolan Thares, daughter Connie Ring.  Sisters Ramona Down and Estrella Seib, sisters-in-law Isobel Ring and Lois Gering.  Brothers-in-law Wilburt Harder, Burdette (Diane) Harder, Rodney (Brenda) Harder and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Wilhelm & Lydia Ring, sisters Eva (Ray) Beierle, Margaret (Jake) Gering, Violet (Rudolph Springer, Phil Pelzer, Ed Belter), Minnie (Adolph) Hauser. Brothers William (Emily) Ring, Victor Ring and Richard (Marjorie) Ring. Brothers-in-law Fred Down, Herman Seib and Murray Gering, 6 nephews and 1 niece.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the charity of the donor's choice.
