Mary Louise Carter


Passed away peacefully with family by her side on Friday December 8 at The Meadows.  Louise was born in Semans, SK. on Oct. 30, 1916. She was one of five children. She attended school in Semans and later went on to obtain her nursing degree in Moose Jaw, SK.  She married Hugh Carter on May 24th, 1941. Together they raised three children, John, Don and Maryanne. After 1955, Louise joined the Elmwood Golf Club and the Swift Current Curling Club. She enjoyed these sports until her late 70's taking different teams to the Provincials over the years. She was an avid sports fan watching a variety of sports such as baseball, golf, hockey and curling. Sewing, knitting and crafts were special interests. Camping with friends was a regular event over the years. She enjoyed life. She was a loving and compassionate woman and will be remembered for her great wit and humour.

Her community involvement included volunteer work with Elections Canada and canvassing for the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

She was predeceased by her husband Hugh Carter, brother Cecil James, and sisters, Dorothy Blisner and Roberta Westerman. . She is survived by her sister Vivian and brother-in-law Art Hartwell of Regina, SK.
She will be missed by her children, John Carter and wife Maureen of Regina, SK. Don Carter and wife Marylin of Carlyle, SK, and Maryanne Carter and husband Gordon of Kyle, SK

Others remembering their grandmother are grandchildren: Jason Carter of Saskatoon, Monette Carter of Moose Jaw, Raiya Neithercut of Regina Beach, Chase Carter of Saskatoon, Cara Carter of Calgary, Gayle Bown of Strathmore, AB, and Ryan McLachlan of Turtleford, SK.

Great Grandchildren remembering their great grandma are Dalton Bakke, Taryn Bakke, Tyne Carter, Cadence Carter, Tyson Carter, Jackson Gould, Tanner Bown and Courtney Bown. She was also a great, great grandmother to twins Antoinette and Adeleda Bown and Ava Carter.

Also thinking of Louise are numerous nieces and nephews, as well as many dear friends.

A memorial service will be announced and held at a later date.
