Kathleen Olson

Kathleen Mae Olson was born on September 9th, 1939 to Robert and Mae Johnston in the Gull Lake Hospital. The only sister to Russell, Ray, Leslie, Lloyd and Larry. Following the early death of her father Robert when Kathleen was 3, Mae remarried Bill McLavish, who was a very important figure in Kathleen's life. Kathleen was born, raised and lived her entire life in Gull Lake. Kathleen worked at the Gull Lake Hospital as a lab tech after completing high school. Kathleen married the love of her life, Ted Olson on November 7th, 1958. They had three children, Melanie, James, and Gregg.  After having her kids, Kathleen returned to work at the Gull Lake hospital as a nurse's aid up until her retirement, working the very last shift at the Gull Lake Hospital with good friend Helen Keetley. Kathleen and Ted enjoyed camping at Cypress and Antelope with family and friends. After retirement Kathleen and Ted enjoyed many winters in Yuma with their Gull Lake friends and made many new friends. Kathleen enjoyed her daily morning walks, coffee with the girls, game shows and loved to spend an evening playing cards. Kathleen was an avid curler in her younger years and continued to follow the sport throughout her life. Kathleen loved Christmas and enjoyed making her house look like Santa's workshop for the season. Kathleen's children and grandchildren were of upmost importance to her and she never missed a milestone in her family or friend's lives. Kathleen was overjoyed by the births of her two great grandchildren. Kathleen will be remembered for her kindness, constant smiles and hugs. Kathleen is survived by daughter Melanie, her husband Frank and their children Tyler (Valerie), Chance, Evan and Brynn, son James and his wife Brenda and their children Adam and Madison and son Gregg, his wife Dawn and their children Shawna and Kayla. Kathleen is predeceased by her loving husband Ted Olson, grandson Jeffery Olson, parents Robert Johnston, Mae and Bill McLavish, in-laws Bill and Ruth Olson, infant brother Lloyd Johnston, brother Leslie Johnston, brother and sister in law John and Joyce Olson and life long best friend Lynne Henderson.
